Zoners, this is Dave Mencin, and I have good news to report. Wally Berg is on the summit. [editor's note: this is Berg's fourth summit of Everest. He arrived there around 9:15am NPT.] He is just finishing installing the GPS station, so we can claim a successful summit attempt. Unfortunately, I don't have the names of all the Sherpas that made it up there with him — none of ours; these are from a different group.

Wally is now descending, and I'll keep you informed.

The other team members, Eric, Greg, and Charles are at Camp II and resting. Probably in about an hour I'll be able to tell you the status of everything, but I just wanted to tell you about the summit. I will keep you informed.

David Mencin, Expedition Scientist
