Mountain Zoners, this is Dave Mencin with a report from Everest base camp. Calling to inform you of the total summit bid happening this evening, here at least. There is a total of 16 western climbers plus at least that many Sherpas attempting the summit in a few hours here. There will be, of course, the three members of the American Mount Everest Expedition, Charles, Eric and Greg. There are four Iranians, four members of the First Everest Singaporean Expedition, four members from Henry Todd's Himalayan Guides Expedition, and one Danish member, Michael.

So, as you can see that there is at least 32 to 35 or possibly 40 people going to the summit tomorrow. This should be a big day. As I mentioned earlier, the weather report is excellent for tomorrow and the day after, but there is a tropical cyclone... currently that's putting time pressure on this side. More later.

David Mencin, Expedition Scientist
