This is a cybercast for Tuesday, the 9th. Hey MountainZoners, this is Vern Tejas with Alpine Ascents Mount Everest Expedition. Today was a rest day. We got up late and had a great breakfast, pancakes and eggs. And then we spent most of the day doing laundry, reading books, playing music and even going on a few acclimatization hikes.

In the afternoon a large part of our group went over the hill to Pheriche where they have a medical clinic and we took in a little seminar on altitude sickness and how to prevent it and how to treat it. It was very informative. This is a volunteer organization that does this for the trekkers in the area and we were very thankful for the information and gave them a nice donation.

On the way back, an afternoon snowstorm came in once again and painted the mountains white. Of course one thing led to another and soon the snowballs were flying and people were getting bonked in the head and it was quite fun. By the time we got back to Dingboche where we were staying, a few of the Sherpas joined in and we were quickly at war. Snowballs filled the air and most of our clothing as well, fun.

We had a very warm tea ceremony in the evening and everybody dried out. It appears to be clearing as I speak, I can see stars, they're just starting to peek through so that means it should be good and clear tomorrow morning which is great because we're heading up the hill to the new location, a couple thousand feet higher, and that's Lobuche. Everybody's looking forward to that.

Everybody's in high spirits. We have had a few colds and a few stomach upsets but nothing that's out of the norm for this area and we're anticipating that everybody's going to make the move up because we have no headaches and no one seems to be suffering outrageously from AMS, acute mountain sickness. We like to give credit to that nice little assemblage that we're doing right now.

So thanks for tuning in and we'll see you tomorrow, same place, same time. Cheers for now.
