Hey guys, it's 6:20 [pm] here at Everest Base Camp, we're going to try a radio patch through to Camp IV, so stand by. Okay Vern, it's all yours.

Hello Mountain Zone. This is Vern Tejas with Alpine Ascents' Everest program. Today was the day. We got up early, so early it was last night. As a matter of fact we got out of here about 10 o'clock. There were eight Sherpas, seven of them tanked up, three of us, Willi, big Al Hanna and myself, paraded off to the summit. It was blowing, and it was snowing, but soon enough the stars and moon came out and it was a beautiful evening.

We climbed and climbed and climbed and finally got on to the Southeast Ridge where we plodded our way to the South Summit. At that point, we decided that was good enough and we ran away about the time a pretty brisk storm that came in — so we went down with three of our Sherpas, three made the actual summit. We're very pleased. We had a successful climb and Al Hanna is happy to make the South Summit, as am I and it's Willi's first time as well, so [transmission fails].
