Tibetan Highlands in the Afternoon
Tibetan highlands in the afternoon
Hi guys, this is Craig Calonica. It's Saturday the 30th, 2:00 pm in the afternoon here in Tingri. Nice day here, started out to be really nice. We're going to head off to Xegar and spend the night there just because there's a little more to do and then we'll be driving off to Everest base camp tomorrow morning.

Kind of out in this big huge field right now with a bunch of Tibetan nomads and horses, cows, sheep, yaks. It's pretty cool. A huge thunderstorm is going on all over the place — except where we're sitting.

We met Eric Simonson today. [click to read his account of climbing Everest's North Face] He's taking a group up to Cho Oyu. They seem to be in pretty good spirits. They were taking off to go soak in the hot springs down the road a little ways.

Not too much excitement happening yet. I'll be in touch.

— Craig Calonica, Expedition Leader
