Transcript:
Hello, it's Craig Calonica; it is Wednesday, October 1st, 7:45 pm here at Everest base camp on the North side. It is very, very cold. It has been stormy and windy all day.

We've just received some news that a monster storm is rolling in from Bhutan that is going to make a clean sweep of the Himalaya. This came from our friend from Kathmandu who just picked it up this morning. We're hoping it's wrong — at least I am.

A lot of people have abandoned any further attempts on the mountain. As it looks right now, it's just going to be a small handful of people in the next ten days or so, maximum. Yaks are being ordered, I believe, by the British on the ninth of October, to clean up from advance base camp, and there's one Spanish group that I'm not sure what they're doing.

It's thinning out; it's getting quite small. As it sits right now, if the weather continues like it is, not much further can be done up high, just due to the winds that are starting to whip around here.

But — hanging tight, waiting for a break, and I'll give it a try; it's about all we can do. Actually, Superman couldn't even pull this one off the way the weather is right now. Time will tell. Everything seems to be okay, and we'll be in touch. Bye.

— Craig Calonica, Expedition Leader
