On Hold in Punta Arenas Tuesday, December 7, 1999
Good evening. This is Willi Prittie calling from Punta Arenas, Chile. We have been delayed one day from our start. So we're still going to be an extra night in Punta Arenas. The problem is a bit of light snowfall, which worsened during the course of the day, and wind blowing snow, obscured horizon, and intermittent low clouds, which kind of kept us on hold checking in about every couple of hours during the course of the day to see if there was going to be flying conditions or not. Turned out not, so we're here in Punta Arenas and all, especially the two who were here last year, are fervently hoping that this will not be a repeat of last year's waiting game performance. At any rate, we're hopeful for tomorrow. And if it turns out that we're actually delayed tomorrow as well, we have various ideas floating around; everything from digging up a few sea kayaks and going sea kayaking to mountain biking to whatever else. But we'll try to keep busy and out of trouble if it turns out we do have a bit of a waiting spell here. That's about all for tonight and I'll actually check in, in the morning, if we do actually fly or if we don't fly and do an update at that point too. Bye-bye.
