  Map of the approach to K2. Qinghongtan and Yinhongtan are pastures and the Camel Dump (3,850m) is where all the gear is unloaded from the camels. From this point, it takes one week to ferry loads to Base Camp (4,900m). Trekkers take a shortcut (indicated by the dashed line) to the Camel Dump while the animals stay close to the river.
