Since 1992 when Irena began sport climbing she has dominated the sport in Croatia. Irena has climbed throughout the Austrian Alps, Nepal, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand. She has competed in various climbing competitions in Europe and in the 1995 ESPN Extreme Games in Rhode Island.

He is also an active member of the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (Search and Rescue). Additionally, he is active in skiing, scuba diving and paragliding. In 1993 he won 1st place in an international Kickboxing competition and in 1992 he was the boxing champion of Croatia.
