Hello cybernauts at Mountain Zone , this is Vern Tejas with Alpine Ascents' Team Wazumgu.

We are now located at Camp 5, 14,630 feet above sea level on a ridge that's quite exposed to the wind. A little dust devil just went through here and picked up several pairs of socks and other sundry articles of clothing and flung them 50-60 feet in the air. Fortunately, our scavenging crew was able to salvage everything and pick up all the socks that were misplaced.

So it looks like we're in position for heading to the summit. We're tucked into bed now. It's about 5 o'clock in the afternoon, however most people have been down for about an hour now in preparation for a 1 o'clock departure for the summit.

The summit is ice capped. We can see glaciers hanging down on all sides that we've viewed so far. We're planning on using the star light to find our way up the route, of course we have headlights to help us out as well, but we're going to do a starlight ascent early, early tomorrow morning and hopefully get to the top in time to see the sun rise.

Please wish us luck. Everybody is feeling the altitude, but is very acclimatized at this point. We're hoping we can maintain that all the way to the summit. So, like I said, please keep your fingers crossed and your prayers coming. We appreciate that and know that we are on our way very shortly to the top of Africa. Thanks for tuning in. Ciao for now.
