Hey guys, it's 10 am June 1 and this is John Race with Alpine Ascents crew 'Driving With the Brakes On'. Just wanted to let you know we made it back to camp last night. Our summit day took 13 hours round trip: about eight and a half up, a half hour on the summit, four hours on the descent. And lets see, the folks that didn't summit, probably a shorter list, Suzanne and Jake both turned around with Gary at about 19,600 feet and both did a phenomenal job, it just wasn't their day. I'm sure they'll get it the next time. And then the rest of us summited about three hours after they turned around.

"The Kahiltna glacier down low has been causing people all kinds of problems with crevasses..."

And now I'm standing here at 17,200 and we're preparing to go down. We'll probably leave here around noon and sure enough it's a relatively nice, clear day. There are clouds lurking but today's much nicer than yesterday which wasn't what was forecasted. We would have a lot better view probably if we had summited today but I think we're all happy that we did it and now we're just looking to get down and out and the descent will take us two or three days depending on how aggressive we are about going down.

The plan is to go to 14 and then if people are into it, continue on to 11. The Kahiltna glacier down low has been causing people all kinds of problems with crevasses so we're going to time it so we go through there when the glacier is frozen, either middle of the night or early morning . So that could possibly add that third day but we'll see. Either way if the planes are able to fly we're hoping to be out Sunday or Monday. So that's it for now. We will check in maybe one more time from 14 and then anyone who knows us, we'll see you guys in a few days. Ok, take care.
