Page 6 of 7At dawn I was 35 minutes behind Hamilton. He had passed Palmer who was rapidly fading. In 2nd was Wilson, followed by me in 4th. The whole race started to get pretty exciting when Wilson moved into 1st. But with the sun my energy came back and I started accelerating.
On my 12th lap I passed Palmer and gained almost 15 minutes on Wilson. On lap 14, I passed Hamilton to take over 2nd place. Now I was pumped and had to go for it. I crossed the start/finish for lap 15 only three minutes behind Wilson. I knew I had to catch him on the next climb. I made the fastest transition I could. I poured three cans of Red Bull into a water bottle and took off. Red Bull is rocket fuel to a bike racer and now was the time for it.
I had to catch him on the first part of the loop because the last three miles are downhill and his 27 speed bike would be like racing a Porsche against a Beetle.
